Mossel Bay is a coastal village and small harbour town in South Africa, with an average population of only 130 000 people. From the shores of Mossel Bay, adventure-junkies have the opportunity to go shark cage diving. Sharks are fascinating creatures that many people dream of getting close to, and now thanks to shark diving operators in South Africa, this is possible.
Mossel Bay is known for their shark-cage diving expeditions, and is one of the most accessible places to view Great White Sharks. The bay is very much protected in the winter months, and the sea conditions are normally calm and comfortable. Seal Island in Mossel Bay is where most of the diving takes place. It is only 2km from the harbour and very close to the local beach.
Divers are attached to breathing equipment and placed in a safe metal, shark-proof cage. If you do not want to dive, the sharks can also be viewed up close from the safety of the boat.
