The cape winelands offer a sense of romance, elegance and exceptional beauty.

Nestled within the Cape Fold Belt, a little way from the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, are the Cape Winelands, a beautiful stretch of land where the finest South African wine is mulled. The Western Cape is known for its beautiful scenery and the Winelands are no exception – tar roads meander along endless valleys and vineyards, all shaded by the mountainous terrain of the Outeniqua Mountains. The towns that make up the Winelands are culturally and historically important in South African settler history, and Dutch architecture, coupled with valleys in vibrant shades of green, make for a unique and scenic getaway. The French settler town of Franschhoek, the vineyards of Paarl, the leafy Constantia Village and the flowering city of Stellenbosch all make up the spine of the Cape Winelands. Experience the ultimate adventure for every wine-lover with East Cape Tours!

Franschhoek

A lovely town situated near Cape Town and is perhaps one of the most famous towns in the Winelands. Franschhoek has plenty of colonial-style Dutch architecture and brilliant rolling hills and plenty of wineries that were once Dutch farms. There are also plenty of cafes and gourmet restaurants. We have plenty of Franschhoek tours available that include other towns in the Winelands and even the renowned Garden Route

Stellenbosch

A beautiful university town 50 kilometres from Cape Town. Stellenbosch is one of the oldest towns in South Africa and the second oldest European settlement in the Western Cape. The town has an elite university and is known as a hub of cultural activities. The town has many colonial-style Dutch architecture and beautiful scenery with a mountainous backdrop. The town is postcard perfect and has a large population making it bustling with a homely atmosphere.

Cape Agulhas

This stretch of ocean is often avoided by sailors because of its rockiness and strong currents. The Cape is nevertheless incredibly beautiful and scenic. Cape Agulhas is also the place where two oceans meet – it acts as the dividing line between the Atlantic and Indian Ocean. Cape Agulhas is a lot different to other towns within the Winelands as it is more a coastal town than the countryside. Popular wines that come from Cape Agulhas include Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz.

Paarl

Paarl is one of the bigger towns situated in the Winelands and is the third oldest European settlement in the Western Cape. Paarl consists of beautiful countryside estates that are well taken care of and extremely picturesque. Guests will feel the amazing serene atmosphere as soon as they enter the town. Paarl is not only a big distributor and producer of wine but also one of the main fruit exporters in South Africa.
