Explorer Camp at Shamwari Private Game Reserve offers a unique walking experience ideal for guests looking for an adventurous and authentic option. Offering the ambiance of a tented bush camp of old safari lore. The camp is located on a plateau set among the only basalt and granite extrusions on Shamwari. A truly magical setting awaits. The camp site provides the true explorer ambiance and tents are placed in fairly close proximity without encroaching on other tents privacy. Wild animals are able to move through the camps at any time and although all safety precautions have been followed in setting up the camp; this remains a reality.

Nestled within the lush vegetation of Shamwari Private Game Reserve, Sindile at Shamwari Private Game Reserve provides luxury tented accommodation within the wilderness. The luxurious lodge, catering to individuals over the age of 16, comprises of nine premier tents each with a private heated plunge pool. Sindile, Shamwari’s new luxury tented camp is a secluded, luxury getaway set deep in the African veld. Named for the famed leopard of Shamwari, the camp mimics a solitary leopard’s sanctuary, blending with the surrounding bush while providing excellent vantages over the Bushman’s River and surrounding plains.
South Africa enjoys a warm climate year-round. Winter temperatures range between 7 and 22°C while summer temperatures reach between 16 and 36°C.
Shamwari offers plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for little ones. We recommend that families travelling with children stay at the Riverdene Family Lodge, which has a supervised children’s play area.

Shamwari is located in the Eastern Cape, a malaria free area. As such, there is no need to bring any preventative tablets or syrup, other than your prescription medication. However, we do highly recommend that you bring the following:
