As one of the original game lodges in South Africa, Notten’s Bush Camp offers a truly authentic African safari experience. It is a destination that captures the true meaning of being in the bush. With limited electrical lighting, a magical atmosphere is created. Surrounded by candlelight and lanterns at night capturing a warm and enchanting spirit of what the bush is meant to be. Splendid panoramic views, Notten’s is the perfect place for peace and relaxation while watching wildlife meander past.
Safaris are led by experienced and professional rangers in open-top Landcruisers, offering an adventurous discovery of the region’s prolific wildlife, including Big 5 game viewing. Unique walking safaris are offered daily giving guests the opportunity of discovering the smaller treasures of the area. This can be followed by lazy hours spent in the pool or having a massage at the Nature Spa. Under the cloak of nightfall one can enjoy the sounds of the African night, while dining in the candlelit boma beneath a canopy of stars.
The rooms at Notten’s Bush Camp consist of beautifully appointed suites with open plan bedroom and en-suite bathroom. All suites have both indoor and outdoor shower facilities. All windows and sliding doors are fitted with screens and insect coils are provided. Each suite at Notten’s Bush Camp leads onto a private wooden deck with a beautiful view of the bush. Paraffin lamps and candles replace electric lighting for ambience and all the rooms are cooled with air-conditioning. There are charging points for mobile phones, cameras and electronic equipment. A main line telephone facility is also available.
Summer house
The summer house is where all game drives and bush walks depart from. It also serves as a social area with a comfy lounge, with bar, library and indoor fire place for those winter evenings. Breakfast is served on the deck where cheeky monkeys and inquisitive birds hope for a crumb or two. Dinner is also on occasion served in the summer house.
Notten’s pool
Notten’s has a 20 meter lap pool with an open plan pavilion , where one can enjoy a day of sun tanning and drinking. There are sun beds scattered on the lawns, as well as an undercover chill area where you can enjoy reading your book.
We offer you a great opportunity to explore the world renowned Kruger National Park, the most bio diverse nature reserve on the African continent. Although we are located within the world’s best private wilderness area, which is part of the Greater Kruger Park, a day outing to explore our vast neighbouring wilderness area, is well worth it. There is nothing as invigorating as watching Africa’s wildlife in their natural habitat. The place where nature dictates the rules and humans are mere observers.

Cultural tours can be arranged into the local Shangaan community, to get an insight into their rural way of life and culture.

Indulge in a spa treatment or simply relax by the private spa pool. A secret little nook to enjoy some extra peace and quiet. Relax, reflect and rejuvenate.
Bonfire boma
Delicious meals by the fire are served around a communal table in the open-air boma under the milky way, surrounded by lanters and candle light. After dinner find a spot by the fire and listen to the sounds and share your days adventures.
Cuisine
The food at Notten’s is always delicious, hearty and homemade with local ingredients. Meals are a social event and served out in the open boma or on the deck of the summer house.
