    Lions Valley Lodge

Lions Valley Lodge is situated in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve. The lodge is within easy reach of the central Drakensberg and many of the historic battlefields. This malaria-free bushveld, with its mixed vegetation of savannah grasslands, indigenous trees and shrubs is home to the Big Five as well as offering the ideal habitat for a large variety of antelope, smaller game species, and an abundant birdlife.

We are proud to offer our guests the opportunity to experience the bush in total luxury. With us, visitors witness the splendour that only the South African bushveld can offer.

As a safari lodge, we are the epitome of a luxury adventure. Our guests are accommodated in lavish free-standing suites, offering maximum privacy. The décor of each of the ten suites is designed around a specific theme. Each suite has a luxurious bedroom with a walk-in cupboard and spacious lounge area. The open-plan bathrooms have two feature baths that invite long indulgent soaks. There are ‘His’ and ‘Hers’ showers in both the bathroom as well as outdoors for an added touch of magic under the African sky.

    Experience

    Wildlife

The expansive Nambiti Private Game Reserve is home to a plethora of different game species. These animals are all iconic symbols of the animal kingdom and are an intrinsic part of our proud African heritage. Nambiti Private Game Reserve is one of the reserves in KwaZulu-Natal that offers you the chance to see all five of these iconic animals in one place.

The reserve is also home to a range of other fascinating animals. You’ll find smaller predators such as hyenas, cheetahs and other members of the feline family. The reserve also offers a wide variety of antelope as well as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, jackal, warthog, various reptiles and a myriad of insects.

Staying with us allows you access to a veritable bird lover’s paradise. The reserve’s incredible biodiversity is home to over 300 identified bird species on the conservancy list. Those of special interest are the White-backed Vulture, Red-billed Oxpecker, Black Stork and Spotted Eagle-owl.

The reserve’s many dams are also known to attract water-based birds such as the Spoonbill, Fish Eagle, Spurwing Goose and African Darter. The birdlife in the area is guaranteed to fascinate even the most experienced ornithologist.

    Game drives

Our guests are treated to both morning and late afternoon game drives – both being a unique adventure. These drives are guided by one of our experienced field guides who will not only keep you informed, but also entertained.

The reserve is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, with over 40 species of game to discover. Nambiti Private Game Reserve is one of the few reserves in KwaZulu-Natal that offers you the chance to see the “Big Five” all in one place. Guests will have the opportunity to stop and enjoy the African wilderness in all its splendour.

During the game drive, you will be served a variety of snacks and refreshments and you may even get the chance to challenge your guide to a “bokdrolspoeg” competition…

    Battlefield tours

Lions Valley Lodge can arrange for an expert battlefield guide to take you on a personalised tour, where the historic Anglo-Boer and Anglo-Zulu Wars were fought.

Nambiti Private Game Reserve forms part of the KwaZulu-Natal battlefields. It was here, in 1899, that the Battle of Elandslaagte between the British and the Boers took place.

    Fishing

For fishing enthusiasts, the reserve has several dams, where guests have the opportunity to catch bass. This activity is dependent on the season and availability of the guides. Fishing equipment is not provided, guests will need to bring their own.

    Massage

Massage treatments can be enjoyed either indoors or on the undercover patio of our newly established Spa Complex. Treatments are booked after arrival at the lodge. The Spa Menu is available at reception and in each suite.

    Weddings

Your “happily ever after” should take place in a truly unforgettable setting. If you’ve ever imagined saying your vows with the backdrop being the untamed beauty of Africa, Lions Valley Lodge could be just the venue for your dream wedding.

We tailor each wedding package to suit your needs. We will make every effort to ensure that your wedding day is memorable. You and your guests will have the complete disposal of our lodge and all its amenities. However, you will need to book exclusive use of the lodge. This entails booking out all ten of our magnificent suites for a minimum of two nights. Due to the logistics of escorting guests to our lodge, Lions Valley Lodge can only accommodate a maximum of 20 adults and 5 children.
