    Avoca Private Bush Camp

Avoca Private Bush Camp is a safari retreat for friends and family (children over 12) in the revered Timbavati Nature Reserve. Open to the Kruger National Park, yet occupying private land, Avoca is wild and tranquil, offering an exclusive safari experience in simple, bush camp accommodation.

This authentic camp can sleep up to 6 guests, which means an intimate and personalised safari experience awaits. There is also the option to book the entire camp, which can then accommodate up to 8 guests and allows for children under 12 (nb – only if camp is booked out).

The beauty of this private getaway spot is the lack of electricity, leaving all cooking and water heating up to gas and solar power. It is eco-friendly and idyllic, providing a peaceful spot to unwind and reconnect with the natural world. Avoca is a reformed hunting camp, now offering photographic safaris. The main camp area at Avoca is under high thatched ceilings, and houses the bar/lounge area. This communal relaxation area has a fantastic and authentic safari feel; and this is where guests will spend their evenings dining. There is a plunge pool, offering respite from the summer heat, and a boma for evenings around the campfire. The camp also has a perimeter fence, ensuring safety from the wild at all times.

There is an indoor lounge area, which is tiled and cool in the summer, but with a fireplace, which is very useful in winter. There is a classic bar counter, and behind that is a wooden partition, which leads onto the wooden deck kitted out with wicker furniture and a dining table.

The Timbavati Nature Reserve is known for superb game viewing, and is also the home of some of the only wild white lions on earth. The town of Hoedspruit is about an hour’s drive away, offering a close-by refueling station with a wide variety of outdoor activities on offer.

    Double chalet

There is one chalet with a double bed and en suite bathroom (shower and toilet). All rooms are equipped with bug screens, a wooden cupboard with shelving and hanging space, extra blankets, and bedside tables. The power in the rooms is solar charged, and not designed for charging batteries and cellphones.

    Twin chalets

There are 3 twin rooms, two of which share an adjacent bathroom with separate toilet and shower; and one of which has its own bathroom containing a bath tub and toilet. All rooms are equipped with bug screens, a wooden cupboard with shelving and hanging space, extra blankets, and bedside tables. The power in the rooms is solar charged, and not designed for charging batteries and cellphones.
