Hlosi Game Lodge consists of six free-standing, individually decorated suites. Two luxury suites, standard suites and a spacious family suite make up the Hlosi accommodation. Each suite is luxuriously designed and consists of plush furniture and traditional decor with a lovely view. Guests can rest assured that they will experience a comfortable stay as the suites come fully equipped. The family suite has a spacious lounge that opens up to an expansive outside deck where guests can enjoy the never ending view of the Eastern Cape bush. A kitchenette is also available.

The luxurious Woodbury Lodge consists of two family suites, and a further six suites some distance away. The suites comprise of thatch and stone and are lavishly decorated, well appointed and come beautifully set and equipped ensuring guests are always comfortable in the bush. The family suites are incredibly spacious and perfect for a large family who are enjoying a safari holiday, or even a large group of friends travelling together. Each suite has a private patio where guests can enjoy the view from, and relax and rejuvenate after a long day of safari activities. The suites are intimate and secluded and guests have absolute privacy at all times. The suites, although lavish, offer a simplicity that is perfect for those who are escaping busy city life.
Situated a little away from the main lodge are 11 luxury safari huts. The huts are spacious and decorated with traditional decor that provides a lavish and comfortable setting. The safari huts are stand-alone and secluded, offering guests absolute privacy. The huts come fully equipped with everything guests would need including a private plunge pool. The huts face a view of the breathtaking valley below as well as a busy waterhole where numerous animals frequent. Guests have a choice between king double rooms, and king twin rooms which are luxurious, lavish and fully equipped. Also, a stay in each of the huts includes two amazing safaris a day, where guests can view the excellent wildlife that roam throughout the Amakhala Game Reserve.
Game viewing is not affected by the weather, seasons or time of year. Animals are active 365 days a year. If there is something you are specifically looking to see, consult with one of our safari experts upon making your booking.
Additionally, it’s recommended that you bring warmer clothing along for the trip as it may get cold, regardless of the time of year.
Apart from Quatermain’s 1920 Camp, complimentary wi-fi is available at all lodges and camps at Amakhala.
Children of all ages are welcome at HillsNek Safaris, Hlosi Game Lodge, Woodbury Lodge, Leeuwenbosch Country House and Woodbury Tented Camp. We recommend that families stay at Hlosi Game Lodge as it offers a children’s programme.
Amakhala Game Reserve is located in the Eastern Cape, a malaria-free area. As such, there is no need to bring any preventative tablets or syrup, other than your prescription medication. However, we do highly recommend that you bring the following:
– Cameras, lenses and binoculars
– Light clothing for summer safaris
– Bathing suits for the pool areas
– Walking shoes
– Sunscreen and hats
– Warmer clothing for winter stays
