As one of the official seven natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls is one of our favourites and a must-see.
Found in Southern Africa, at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, it falls from the Zambezi River, the fourth-longest river in the whole of Africa. Since the falls are on the border of two countries, one can approach them from either side.
In Zambia, the town of Livingstone provides a route with more trails; and in Zimbabwe, the town called Victoria Falls allows a greater view of the waterfall. Victoria Falls is protected by both the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and the Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe, while the Zambezi National Park is just a stone’s throw away, too. The wildlife found here range from some members of the Big 5 to herds of antelope, as well as crocodiles and birds.
Stay in the spacious en-suite safari-style tents in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park’s Toka Leya Camp, or in an ecotourism hotel in the town of Victoria Falls itself, where you will certainly also find both budget-friendly and luxury accommodation. Get the best of both worlds by staying in one of the beautiful 5-Star lodges within the Zambezi National Park, such as the exquisite Victoria Falls River Lodge.
There are many ways to encounter the Victoria Falls on your own terms, but however you choose to experience this great wonder, you will be glad that you got to see it with your own eyes.
