The South Luangwa National Park is one of the best and most renowned wildlife conservation parks in the world, and has the most intact major river system in all of Africa, making it unique and breathtaking. The park features over 60 different animals and over 400 different bird species, making bird watching fantastic. The beautiful Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia is not to be confused with the Zambezi National Park in Zimbabwe. The park belonged to the president of Zambia and was made public in 1983. Because of no mass tourism before its opening, the park is still in its original state and wildlife is in abundance. The Lower Zambezi National Park is made up of primarily woodlands including southern Miombe and Mopane. There is a steep escarpment along the northern side of the park which deters animals to the valley floors and around the river. The wildlife in the park includes a very populous elephant community – other animals include the Cape buffalo, and various species of buck including antelope. Predators include the Cape wild dog, crocodile, lion and the elusive leopard.
Zambia is renowned for being the prime location of the Victoria Falls. The city of Livingstone, named after famed explorer David Livingstone, is the gateway into the Falls, with many people using the town as their base to explore the Falls from. The city has plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes as well as various stores and markets that sell hand-crafted items. The renowned Livingstone Museum is the oldest and largest museum in Zambia and is filled with cultural and historical artifacts showcasing Zambia’s rich history. The museum also has five recreated villages from the five different tribes that reside in Zambia. There is also a railway museum, which has vintage steam trains on display, and is dedicated to Zambia’s railway history.

The spectacular Victoria Falls is the main attraction in Zambia. The Falls, nicknamed, ‘The Smoke That Thunders’ is an impressive 108m tall and one of the most beautiful natural sites in Africa. Vantage points are situated around the Falls, carefully placed to ensure you receive the best views wherever you happen to be standing. Activities around Victoria Falls are varied and there is something for everyone. Adventure activities include abseiling and gorge winging, zip lining, bungee jumping, white water rafting, quad and mountain biking, as well as jet boats.
