The Waterberg region is absolutely stunning in every direction, a hidden and somewhat unexplored gem and an explosion of nature in the midst of the Limpopo Province.
Also more recently known as Thaba Meetse, the Waterberg is a mountainous region covering approximately 15,000 square kilometres. The beautiful blue-hued Water Mountain (as it is named in English) has peaks varying in height between 600 and 2000 metres. The entire region of the Waterberg, from Thabazimbi to the Lapalala River, is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – the first of South Africa’s northern regions to be identified as such. The gorgeous scenery of the Waterberg includes deep mountain gorges, rippling streams, large lakes and huge expanses of bushveld, and much of the area is home to a wonderful variety of wildlife.
