Exploring the Pilanesberg National Park
Popular Pilanesberg attractions include walking and elephant back safaris, the lost City and Sun City, hot air ballooning, day trips and the Big Five. A large dam (Mankwe) is the ideal location to spot a number of the park’s over 7,000 animals, such as zebra, water-buck and wildebeest, and offers the most beautiful scenery in the reserve.
The Pilanesberg National park is the fourth largest park in South Africa, and is found in the North West Province. It is nearby Johannesburg, Pretoria and Rustenburg, and about 220km from the O.R. Tambo International Airport. There is also an airport in the park, referred to as the Pilanesberg International Airport.
