The Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls, locally known as “The Smoke that Thunders”, is one of the world’s largest and most spectacular waterfalls. Situated on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, the Falls are one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Falls have been untouched by man and are still preserved in the same state in which David Livingstone found them centuries ago.
The Zambezi River is the fourth largest river in Africa and one of the most pristine and unexplored. The majestic Victoria Falls acts as a barrier between the upper and middle Zambezi while the lower Zambezi leads to the Indian Ocean. The vast river flows through six countries, starting in Zambia and ending in Mozambique.
The Chobe River is situated along the northern area of the Chobe National Park. The stunning river has plenty of luxury lodges along its bank, and is the primary river used for cruise safaris. The Chobe meets with the Zambezi River, passing Botswana before forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The river attracts plenty of wildlife, making for excellent sights.
Some truly incredible wildlife roams along the banks of the Chobe River. Explore the tranquil Chobe on either the Zambezi Queen or one of the Chobe Princesses for a truly remarkable experience. Wildlife are drawn to the waters of the Chobe, and as such guests can observe elephant, zebra, crocodile, lion, buffalo and a plethora of birdlife from the comfort of their houseboat.
Gliding along the Chobe is not the only activity on a cruise safari. As guests make their way down the Chobe they can enjoy a plethora of activities. Fishing safaris are a popular treat and guests have the chance to hook a show-stopper. Bird watching is available, and the Chobe is the best setting for one, with over 450 species calling the river their home. The houseboats offer small tender boats for guests to enjoy day excursions in the surrounds. Photo safaris and culture tours are also readily available.
