Machaba Camp will appeal to the novice safari guest as well as to the seasoned safari traveller. We look forward to hosting you at Machaba camp. It is constructed on the same site as the previous Machaba camp. The name Machaba is the local Setswana name for the Sycamore Fig Tree, the tree of life. The Machaba tree abounds in the Okavango Delta and most African riverine forests. Machaba trees are renowned for their abundant fruit, which feed a vast array of animals throughout the year, including elephant, baboons, bush buck, green pigeons and many more. The camp consists of 8 luxury twin tents and 2 luxury family tents. Children of all ages are welcome at the camp; however, a private vehicle will need to be booked for families with children under the age of 6 years old. Machaba Camp is independently owned and run, and is aimed at the affordable luxury travel markets across the world. Offering great value for money and a unique classical safari experience.
The secluded pool area is an ideal spot to while away the afternoon siesta between your morning and afternoon game drives. Laze on a pool lounger with a book from the library and a tall, cold drink from the bar. It is a dreamy scene: delicious sunshine, birds chattering in the trees and shy antelope passing by in the dappled undergrowth. For avid photographers, Machaba has a superb game-viewing hide overlooking the river. You are dropped off and collected at a pre-arranged time, which leaves you free to photograph the abundant game and birdlife to your heart’s content.
