Our 16 Day Garden Route and Zulu Nyala Package takes you on the journey of a lifetime across South Africa. This trip starts in Cape Town and from there you will be travelling to Oudtshoorn and Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Tsitsikamma then finally Hluhluwe where you will stay at the brilliant Zulu Nyala Heritage Hotel and the Zulu Nyala Game Lodge.
Day 1 to 5 – Arrival, Cape Town
Waterfront Village Overview
Against the dramatic backdrop of Table Mountain, the world famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is South Africa’s most popular tourist attraction. Over 80 properties have been immaculately prepared according to detailed guest specifications. All apartments are individually decorated for convenience and comfort. Apartments range in size from 65 m² studios, to luxurious 350 m² penthouses. Situated in the heart of the Waterfront basin, close to the city centre and the Cape Town Convention Centre. Attractions include the Victoria Wharf shopping centre, daily trips to Robben Island and the Two Oceans Aquarium.
Day 5 to 7 – Oudtshoorn
Rosenhof Country House Overview
Rosenhof Country House is situated on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn en route to the Cango Caves and Ostrich farms. The carefully renovated homestead (circa 1852), with its yellowwood beams and ceilings and antique furniture, exudes an aura of authenticity. The lovely rose garden, which gave Rosenhof its name, leads to stylishly decorated bedrooms, each individually furnished in Victorian Style with patios opening onto the courtyard.
All rooms provide air-conditioning, satellite tv, telephones, minibar and tea trays. The two Executive Suites are privately situated with unspoilt and tranquil views of the Swartberg Mountain. Each suite has its own private lounge with fireplace and swimming pool.
In summer guests can cool down in the pool or take tea in the manicured gardens. The Wellness Center offers a fully equipped gym, Jacuzzi, sauna and beauty clinic where relaxing and stimulating treatments are offered. Day 7 to 8 – Knysna

Day 8 to 9 – Plettenberg Bay
Milkwood Manor on Sea Overview
Milkwood Manor-on-Sea is a gorgeous hotel in the small coastal town of Plettenberg Bay, and offers absolute tranquility overlooking the beautiful, sparkling Indian Ocean. The beach hotel is a gorgeous Georgian-styled building which consists of spacious rooms that have sea views and are lavishly decorated. There are also garden view rooms downstairs, as well as a budget in land facing room that comes at affordable rates. Each room is luxuriously decorated, and comes with a private patio, or balcony for the upstairs rooms, the perfect vantage point to view the stunning beach or garden from.
Milkwood is ideally located on the magnificent beach of Plettenberg Bay, which is definitely one of the biggest attractions. Other popular attractions nearby include Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, the Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary, the Elephant Sanctuary and the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve, and there are plenty of scenic hiking trails. Several Plett heritage walks and tours are also readily available for your enjoyment.
Day 9 to 10 – Tsitsikamma
Tsitsikamma Village Inn Overview
The Tsitsikamma Village Inn, situated in the beautiful village of Storms River, is the perfect accommodation for couples, families, and adventurers alike. The Tsitsikamma Village is home to a variety of restaurants, its very own microbrewery, and is also a great place to stay if you are planning to explore and sight-see around Storms River. The Hotel is renowned for its good food and old world charm.
Between Garden Route excursions guests are welcome to relax around the sparkling swimming pool, entertain themselves in the games room or enjoy delicious, hearty meals at one of the excellent onsite restaurants. There is complimentary Wi-Fi internet access available throughout the hotel. In-room facilities include air-conditioning/heating, electrical blankets, television and a tea/coffee station.
Day 10 to 13 – Hluhluwe
Zulu Nyala Heritage Safari Lodge Overview
The Heritage Safari Lodge was originally built in the 1940’s as a hotel, and was a landmark pit stop for weary travelers between Maputo and Durban. Acquired in 1996, the building was restored to its original colonial grandeur, enhanced by new accommodations, and tastefully themed to highlight Zululand’s unique cultural heritage. With buffet style meals in the onsite restaurant, the wide veranda and the pub or thatched boma, the warm and relaxing atmosphere is conducive to shared good times and conviviality. The Zulu Nyala Heritage Hotel also features a small library, as well as a beautifully stocked curio shop for browsing pleasure. Be sure to keep an eye out for the impala, nyala, warthog, zebra, blesbok and Zulu nguni cattle that roam freely on the property.
Day 13 to 16 – Hluhluwe
Zulu Nyala Game Lodge Overview
Zulu Nyala Private Game Reserve provides a unique bush experience in the heart of one of South Africa’s most diverse conservation regions. Nestled between the wilderness reserves of Mkuze, Hluhluwe, St. Lucia and Sodwana Bay, this lush stretch of paradise is home to a wide variety of game, from the majestic elephant to rhino, buffalo, hippo, giraffe, the secretive leopard and cheetah and the shy Nyala antelope that are endemic to the region.
The privately owned reserve in home to over 40 different species of animal and magnificent birdlife. A large variety of game reserve activities and excursions are available to all guests of Zulu Nyala Safari Game Lodge, Heritage Safari Lodge and Hemingway Tented Camp.
