Addo Elephant National Park is located adjacent to Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape and offers the big 7 in a malaria free area.
Day 1.
Leave Port Elizabeth for the Addo Elephant National Park. Established in 1931 to protect the last 11 of a vast number of elephants hunted to the point of extinction in the Eastern Cape, the population now numbers 350. There is much more to Addo than elephants, Cape buffalo, Black rhino, Eland, Kudu, Bushbuck, Red hartebeest, Grysbok and Duiker, Jackals, Antbear, Bushpig, Vervet monkeys and Zebra, to name a few.The Park has recently been extended and now includes a marine section, in this area it is possible to see the Bryde Whale and great white sharks, we can arrange for a cave dive for those brave enough hence we can now offer the "Big 7".
Visit the marine section of the park the Woody Cape Nature reserve and the huge desert like sand dunes at Alexandria.
Overnight accommodation at Valley View Bed and Breakfast. 12 km from Addo National Park 3 en suite rooms situated in a bird lovers paradise,with over 200 species, with it's own bird hide, shop selling traditional African crafts.

Day 2 - 3.
Breakfast at Valley View, Travel the gravel road through the Zuurberg mountains to spend 2 nights at Darlington Lake. Super Lodge, great hospitality and fine food. Guests have a choice from relaxing at the pool, Rhino tracking, enjoying the peace and tranquility of Darlington Lake aboard the houseboat, horse trails, fishing, water sports, and sauna.
Day 4.
Travel another trail through the Zuurberg Mountains, in the Addo Elephant National Park lunch at the Zuurberg Inn and arrive mid afternoon at Schotia Safaris in time for the Sunset Game Drive, to view the first pride of hunting lions to be reintroduced into the Eastern Cape. After the Game drives, enjoy a traditional Boma supper, overnight accommodation in the park. Listen to the roar of lions in the stillness of the night.
Day 5.
Enjoy a morning game drive followed by breakfast.
Option 1.
Leave and return to Port Elizabeth in time for lunch.
Option 2.
Day visit to Shamwari Game Reserve, recently awarded the Global Fund award for best conservation practice and regarded as the greatest conservation project in Africa. Shamwari was established as recently as 1990 but has already succeeded in returning many of the animals including the Big 5, hunted to extinction in the area in the early 1800's. The full day tour includes an excellent safari lunch, a visit to an African cultural village. Enjoy traditional dancing and the beating of drums, learn about tribal customs and meet a Sangoma, a traditional healer, take the opportunity to purchase traditional muti. See the work of the Born Free Foundation, take the game drive to see not only the "Big 5" but to understand the ongoing conservation efforts.

Day 2. Breakfast at Valley View Guest House Guided tour of the Addo Elephant National Park and onwards to Darlington Lake Lodge for evening meal. (Lunch at Addo National Park for own account 40-60 ZAR.)
Day 3. Breakfast, lunch, houseboat cruise dinner at Darlington Lake Lodge, Game drive in the Darlington section of the Addo National Park.
Day 4. Breakfast, fully escorted tour to Schotia Safaris, Game Drive in an open Land Rover, Boma supper. (Lunch for own account 40-60 ZAR.)
Day 5. Option 1. Morning Game Drive and return to Port Elizabeth in time for lunch or afternoon flights. Option 2. Full day trip to Shamwari Game Reserve including, safari lunch visit to the Born Free foundation and the Khaya Lendaba Cultural Village and 3 hour Game Drive in an open Land Rover. Return to Port Elizabeth for approximately 7.30pm.
