Schotia Safaris

This is the Eastern Cape's oldest Private Game Reserve and has belonged to the same family since 1833, it is also the closest to Port Elizabeth, 30 minutes (55 km) away.

The 5,000 hectare reserve was the first in the Eastern Cape to reintroduce free range lions (lions that hunt and fend for themselves)

Although Schotia is rightly renown for its lions (you will get very close ) there are numerous other species, antelope Hippo, Crocodile, Rhino, Ostrich, Monkeys, Aardwolf, Aardvark, Wildebeest and Giraffe, to highlight a few.

There is an exciting choice of accommodation at Schotia.

Three “honeymoon” style rondavels. The rondavels are totally private and situated in the heart of the bush.

Orlando Lodge is a recently completed comfortable lodge and accommodates up to 8 guests.

SLEEPING WITH THE LIONS!! A Bush Camp is available which has 2 units, with twin beds in each. It is very comfortable and can sleep 4 guests.

This is in the Lion area and a ranger will sleep there with the guests.

Prices are 1,200 per person per night and include all meals and game drives. This reserve is also great for children.

The hotel is set high up in the Zuurberg Mountains, which form part of the greater Addo National Park and has a peaceful & truly unique mountain top retreat, set in 160 hectares of indigenous vegetation, with breathtaking views overlooking the main elephant section of the Addo Elephant National Park.
