Safari Lodge

The Safari Lodge offers amongst others a three day package which, along with activities on Amakhala, includes a game drive into Addo and to Shamwari.

The Safari Lodge sleeps 22 people. In addition to the four original safari huts there are 7 new luxury suites complete with private plunge pools and separate lounge areas.

The magic Safari Lodge - graded 4 star, but with stunning 5 star service - is tucked away in a valley of indigenous bush at the northern boundary of the 7000 hectare Amakhala Game Reserve.

Leeuwenbosch The Country House & Shearers Lodge

This historical colonial manor house built in 1908 offers true country living in every sense.

Woodbury Lodge

Woodbury Lodge is spectacularly set against a cliff above the Bushman’s River valley.

It offers an intimate and tranquil experience of the Eastern Cape riverine bushveld at its best. The lodge has recently received a four star grading in recognition of its standards. Guests are accommodated in five comfortably appointed stone-and-thatch sleeping lodges, each with air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom. The seclusion of the lodges and the design of the bathrooms and individual outdoor relaxation areas enable visitors to enjoy the unique and breathtaking views at leisure. Guests are often thrilled by the late afternoon sighting of the elephant herd passing by.

Reed Valley Bush Lodge

Reed Valley is proud to announce a new African retreat on the Amakhala Game Reserve.

Built in the bush at the top end of an open valley in the reserve, each of the four rooms overlook a watering point with big sky views. All buildings are thatched roofs, tented walls and wooden floors. Each room has an open deck with plunge pool, air conditioning (hot & cold), fire place, large oval bath and outdoor shower. The main building has a large, comfortable lounge, dining area, pub and a 96m2 deck with outdoor and indoor fire place.

Reed Valley Inn

Reed Valley Inn is nestled in a farmyard and is comprised of four historic en-suite country rooms, which once provided rest and safety for the travellers on the mail wagon.

Each room has a separate entrance on to a private patio. Children of all ages are welcome.

Your stay will be made special by personalised attention and arrangements that are tailor-made to suit your requirements from catering to excursions and activities. A sumptuous dinner featuring local specialties will be served with true Eastern Cape hospitality. In the morning, enjoy a hearty breakfast before you set off to discover the untold beauty of our land.

Day Trips

A six hour Safari including game drive, river cruise, bush dinner and night drive.
Guided by experienced rangers on open Land Rovers, Amakhala offers a day safari aimed at providing visitors with an experience of the diverse wildlife and landscape including: The Big 5, Black Wildebeest, Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra and numerous other antelope.

Itinerary:

• Meet at Reed Valley for orientation and welcome drinks;       
• Game drive through the reserve enjoying spectacular views and descending into the Bushman’s River Valley;

• After the river cruise enjoy a further game drive through other parts of the reserve making your way back to Reed Valley.
